Who We Are
KINA empowers young people through leadership development, civic engagement, entrepreneurship, climate action, and community service to build stronger, more resilient communities across Kenya.
KINA (Kijana Inuka Nawiri Angaza) is a youth-led movement committed to raising informed, empowered, and socially responsible young leaders. Registered under the Dr. Susan Munayi Foundation, KINA provides a platform where young people develop the confidence, knowledge, and practical skills to lead positive change within their communities.
We believe that young people are not merely the leaders of tomorrow, they are leaders today. Through mentorship, leadership development, civic engagement, entrepreneurship, climate action, and community service, we empower youth to transform challenges into opportunities and ideas into impact.
Why we Exist
Empowering Young People to Lead Change in Kenya
Kenya is home to one of the youngest and most dynamic populations in the world. Every day, millions of young people demonstrate remarkable creativity, resilience, and determination. Yet many continue to face barriers that limit their ability to realize their full potential, including unemployment, limited access to leadership opportunities, mental health challenges, inadequate mentorship, and low participation in civic and community life.
KINA (Kijana Inuka Nawiri Angaza) was established in 2025 to respond to these challenges by creating a platform where young people can grow into confident leaders, responsible citizens, entrepreneurs, and changemakers. We believe that meaningful development begins by investing in young people, not only through education and skills, but also by nurturing character, resilience, and a spirit of service.
Building Strong Leaders from Within
We intentionally began our journey with Mental Health and Trauma Healing because we believe strong communities are built by emotionally healthy leaders. Many young people carry the weight of personal struggles, economic uncertainty, family pressures, and past experiences that can affect their confidence and ability to lead.
Through our weekly online learning sessions, KINA provides a safe and supportive space where members strengthen their emotional wellbeing, build resilience, and develop the confidence to lead with empathy, integrity, and purpose. We believe leadership begins with personal transformation.
Growing a Generation that Cares
Leadership also means taking responsibility for the environment and the communities we call home. Through our Green Roots Initiative, KINA has established a community tree nursery that nurtures seedlings for future environmental conservation and community greening activities.
The initiative introduces young people to climate action, environmental stewardship, and sustainable development while encouraging practical solutions to local environmental challenges. Every seedling represents our commitment to leaving future generations with healthier, greener, and more resilient communities.
Our Vision for the Future
KINA is building a movement of young people who are prepared to lead with courage, serve with compassion, and innovate with purpose. As we continue to grow, we are expanding opportunities in leadership development, civic engagement, entrepreneurship, environmental conservation, volunteerism, and community service.
We believe that when young people are empowered with knowledge, skills, and opportunities, they become catalysts for sustainable development, social transformation, and lasting impact.
